For more than 40 years, Fun City Youth Academy has offered Columbia youth opportunities to learn and achieve. The Summer Academy helps students retain their academic skills over summer break, with cultural and recreational activities too. The Saturday Academy offers fun and academic activities during the school year.
Engage area youth and their parents in academic, cultural and recreational programs that promote academic achievement, self-respect, and social responsibility.
Fun City Saturday Academy
The Fun City Saturday Academy is scheduled from 11:30 am to 4:30 pm each Saturday at Progressive Missionary Baptist Church (702 Banks Avenue). It begins in September with a break for the holidays in December and continues until mid-May. Lunch and afternoon snack is served. This program is offered free of charge, and parents are encouraged to participate as volunteers.
Fun City Summer Academy
For the eighth consecutive year, Fun City Youth Academy (FCYA) and Columbia Public Schools (CPS) will collaborate and administer a joint 'extended' 8-week Summer School program, providing four additional weeks beyond the other summer schools. This builds on the many years that FCYA has provided a daily 8-week program over the summer break.
